Boundary Court Motor Inn, Hamilton, New Zealand
Graham Olsen has been in the hospitality business for many years, running a motor camping business in Auckland. More recently he decided on a change of style and purchased the Boundary Motor Court Inn in Hamilton. Business is brisk and will be brisker yet once the Aussy V8’ races transfer to Hamilton in April 08. It will cause the Boundary Court with its twenty, modern and attractive units to be full to overflowing and place even more reliance on the reservations module of the Starfleet software, which the previous owners had installed. As Graham puts it succinctly, the Starfleet software runs well, although it took him some time to become comfortable with it. In his previous business he used a New Zealand-developed package, which worked well but lacked the accounting features that he finds so useful in the Starfleet software. Eleven months into the new business Graham Olsen realises that the telephone module available from Starfleet would enhance operations—and be more attractive to his guests—and save them money.
Graham Olsen is happy with the service he gets from Starfleet but admits that self-help goes a long way. Still, it speaks well for the operational features of the Starfleet software packages that the learning experience is a pleasant one devoid of frustration.
